Item & Spell Crafting

While Item and Spell crafting will not be available until the third phase of the Secret of Praetoria expansion, the resources involved in the process will begin to be able to be harvested/earned by players in the second phase, so it is important that players have at least an overview of how Item and Spell crafting is planned to work in the future and how those resources will be able to be used.

In the third phase, there will be new buildings that will be available for players to construct on their land plots which will allow the crafting of Item and Spell cards. As most land plots will already have other buildings constructed on them by this point, it is expected that players will Repurpose existing buildings into these new buildings once they are available.

Like all other buildings, Item and Spell crafting buildings will require worker cards to provide Production, food for the workers, a Power Source / Runi, and staked DEC.

Item and Spell crafting buildings will work similar to other Resource Refinement buildings where they will require specific input resources in order to produce the Item and Spell cards. The primary resources that are expected to be needed for Item and Spell crafting are:

  • Elemental Essences

  • Gemstones

  • Mana Crystals

Elemental Essences can be obtained by combining Essences with a particular Magical Resource in a Laboratory building. The specific element that is used will determine the element of the Item or Spell card that is produced.

Gemstones can be obtained only by contributing to the Ancient Ruins reconstruction project and the appropriate type of gemstone matching the element of the Elemental Essences used will be required to create Item and Spell cards. The quality of the gemstones used will be a major determining factor as to the rarity of the Item or Spell card that is produced.

Finally, Mana Crystals are required as they act as a reagent that combines the Elemental Essences with the Gemstones to create a card which can be manifested by Summoners in the arena. Mana Crystals can be obtained by contributing Guild Power to your Guild outside of Praetoria.

Players will also have the option of using new types of Legendary and/or Alchemy potions when crafting Item and Spell cards in order to increase the chances of creating higher rarity and/or Gold Foil Items and Spells. These new types of Legendary and Alchemy potions can be created by mixing Salt (which can be obtained by contributing to Infrastructure Projects) with the existing in-game Legendary or Alchemy potions in an Alchemy Lab building, which will be available in later phases.

The new types of Legendary and Alchemy potions are planned to be tradeable tokens (unlike the current potions), and are planned to still be able to be used to increase the chances of receiving Legendary and Gold Foil cards when opening normal booster packs in addition to when crafting Item and Spell cards. This means that mixing the potions with the Salt resource in an Alchemy Lab building will allow the potions to become transferrable and be able to be bought and sold for the first time.
